Our History

Thomas & Reed was founded in 2004 by Stephen A. Reed, CPA, MBA, in Indianapolis, Indiana, with a focus on delivering high-quality CPA and advisory services. Built on a foundation of technical expertise, accountability, and client trust, the firm quickly established a reputation for delivering reliable financial, audit, and compliance support in regulated environments.

As client needs evolved, Thomas & Reed expanded intentionally beyond traditional CPA services. Organizations increasingly required partners capable of supporting program execution, staffing, and operational demands, particularly within government-funded and public-sector environments.

Years ago, Thomas & Reed entered the government contracting space, extending its capabilities to include government services, staffing and recruiting, and program support. This expansion applied the firm’s compliance-driven foundation to public-sector work, resulting in a strong reputation for supporting mission-critical government programs and delivering hard-to-fill roles across IT, finance, and administrative functions.

Continued growth led to expansion into logistics, technology, and engineering services, including advanced technical and engineering capabilities through RACAR. Today, Thomas & Reed operates as an integrated consulting and staffing firm supporting clients nationwide, while remaining grounded in its Indianapolis roots.
